Senior Assistant Director of Admissions, Global Pathway and Recruitment

About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY:

Supporting initiatives led by Director of Global Enrollment Strategies and reporting directly to the Associate Director of Admissions for Specialized Entry Programs, the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions for Global Network Recruitment & Programs will lead and teach best practices regarding customer service and knowledge relating to global recruitment, including our role in the Boston Area International Counselor Tour (BAICT). Additionally, this position will liaise with Northeastern's Global Experience Office (GEO), coordinating efforts to recruit and enroll students through Northeastern's largest first-year entry programs, including the N.U.in Program and Global Scholars Program/London Scholars Program. Ultimately, this role will revolve around three key skills and job functions: 1. clearly communicating future goals to campus partners 2. collaborating with external offices as well as members of the Undergraduate Admissions team on recruitment, evaluation, and yield initiatives 3. confidently discussing pathway enrollment programming with prospective students, families, and counselors.

As a territory manager, traditional responsibilities include: travel to attract and subsequently enroll students; develop and implement targeted programming efforts and activities; manage a territory throughout the admission cycle; evaluate freshman and transfer applicants for admission; counsel and advise students and families regarding the admission process; conduct interviews and presentations; and establish, develop and maintain relationships with guidance counselors and transfer advisors while marketing the University effectively. This position will work closely with other University offices and programs, as well as with appropriate off-campus agencies and services.

The Senior Assistant Director of Admissions for Global Network Recruitment & Programs will conduct the role with the highest degree of professionalism, ensuring that the Northeastern brand and image are accurately conveyed across the Global Network.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Territory Management - Recruitment Travel, Customer Service, and Application Evaluation

Plan, design, and implement an effective recruitment strategy for an assigned geographic area for freshman and transfer students. The strategy should include efficient and cost-effective travel management in these territories while meeting office and University expectations and priorities. Meet with, counsel, and inform prospective students, parents, and guidance counselors. Follow-up and evaluation is expected upon return from recruitment travel. Read and evaluate applications for the assigned travel territory. Communicate with secondary school counselors regarding decisions, when appropriate. Counsel applicants, families, and counselors throughout the application evaluation process.

Global Recruitment - Strategy and Support

Support global recruitment by developing best practices, sharing knowledge, and identifying opportunities to train and support others on effective global recruitment strategies. As an extension of our recruitment of prospective students and families, the Senior Assistant Director will also support counselor outreach by coordinating Northeastern's role with the Boston Area International Counselor Tour (BAICT).

First Year Entry Programs - Recruitment and Enrollment Efforts, Campus Partner Liaison, and Customer Service

Reporting to the Associate Director of Specialized Entry Programs, this position will provide support and leadership to the Pathways Function Group, and serve as a liaison between Undergraduate Admissions, and both the Global Experience Office (GEO) and the Office of Global Services (OGS). The Senior Assistant Director will serve as the primary admissions contact for customer service relating to the N.U.in Program, Global Scholars Program, and London Scholars Program, and will be expected to train others on customer service which relates to these first-year entry programs. The Senior Assistant Director will actively support our recruitment and yield efforts for these programs, by developing promotional marketing materials, drafting new communications, and providing new website content which relates to the first-year entry programs. Support and coordinate yield presentations and program-specific events which will require creativity and collaboration with campus partners.

Coordinating and managing a specific constituent relationship or project(s)

Provide leadership and oversight for projects areas as assigned by the Dean or as dictated by other job responsibilities. Effectively manages any assigned project(s) or relationship, including setting goals in consultation with his/her supervisor, developing and managing timelines, coordinating assessment and data analysis in conjunction with the Enrollment research unit when appropriate, achieving desired results and producing a final report on the assigned task.

Contribute to positive welfare and environment of the Unit

Support and contribute to the unit's positive professional environment by conducting oneself in a professional manner; demonstrating support of institutional, divisional and office policies and procedures; adhering to the managers expectation and practicing the highest levels of customer service toward all constituents (students, internal and external constituents and colleagues.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, political economy, education or related field required, Master's degree preferred" under minimum qualifications.
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience
  • Strong presentation, process management, detail orientation, organizational skills, analysis, data interpretation, interpersonal skills, and the ability to understand the big picture
  • Demonstrated ability to apply discretion and independent judgment
  • Knowledge of higher education issues related to the recruitment, admission and enrollment of international students
  • Demonstrated leadership and customer service skills
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds in order to move recruitment materials
  • Strong work ethic with team player mentality
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across units and is sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies
